This apprenticeship certificate will prepare entry-level child care personnel to work in early learning classrooms as aides or classroom assistants.

Program Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students should be able to:

• describe the developmental period of early childhood from birth through age 8 across developmental domains;
• explain how successful early childhood education depends upon educators' partnerships with the families of the young children they serve;
• demonstrate that the primary purpose of assessments is to inform instruction and planning in early learning settings;
• demonstrate positive, relationships with children while guiding their development and learning;
• define pedagogy, including how young children learn and process information in each discipline, the learning trajectories for each discipline, and how teachers use this knowledge to inform their practice;
• utilize culturally responsive teaching practices to work with diverse children and families.
